The former chief of staff to Imo state government, Uche Nwosu has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Mr Nwosu ran for the position of Imo state governor during the last Guber election in the state on the platform of Action Alliance (AA).
Uche Nwosu went for the guber ticket of AA after the 2018 crisis that rocked the APC in Imo led the party to deny him the APC ticket.
Following the doubt raised about his return to the party, the APC publicity secretary for Imo State, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones released a statement confirming that Uche Nwosu has returned and has been absorbed by the party.
The statement read in part: “The attention of the Imo chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been drawn to a fallacious news report in some local tabloids, especially, The Lead, where a former State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo was quoted as saying that His Excellency Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has not returned to the Party.
“Uche Nwosu has reregistered at his Eziama-Obaire ward and has been received back into the Party at the LGA and State levels.
“…his numerous supporters across the 305 wards in the State, and these valuable Party members have been welcomed back into the Party and fully reabsorbed.
“The Party is hopeful that other critical leaders of our Party from across the State, who left the Party due to one reason or the other will soon rejoin the Party, even as we look forward with hope to the Supreme Court judgement on the Imo governorship election.
“We must commend His Excellency Senator Ifeanyi Ararume for his support to the APC candidate for the Okigwe North Federal Constituency and we look forward to welcoming him and his numerous supporters back to our Party as soon as possible.”
