A man identified as Johnbosco Ejiogu from Umudagu Mbieri, in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State has been arrested for attempted murder of his mother, Mrs Pauline Ejiogu.
The incident occurred on Friday after the aged mother advised her son, not to sell off all the property belonging to their family.
Infuriated by the words of his mother, Johnbosco locked the two of them inside the house, stabbed the mother, and set the house ablaze.
However, the early intervention from other residents and commercial motorcyclists quenched the fire, while the occupants were rushed to the hospital.
A neighbour, Ikenna, told newsmen that Mrs Ejiogu’s offence was her counsel to her son, to turn a new leaf and stop selling off family property.
According to the neighbour, Johnbosco had been a source of concern to his mother, over his rascality.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations, PPRO, Orlando Ikeokwu, while reacting in Owerri, said that it was an altercation between Ejiogu and his mother Pauline, that led to the ugly incident.
Police confirmed that both of them were rescued from the fire with the help of the residents around the scene of the incident and that both have been taken to the hospital while investigation has commenced.
