The Supreme Court will today hear the case of Governor Ademola Adeleke and Adegboyega Oyetola concerning the rightful winner of the Osun Governorship election.
The said Governorship poll was held on 16th July, 2022, and Adeleke of the PDP was declared winner of the election by the INEC.
However, the victory was challenged at the Osun Governorship Tribunal in Osogbo. The Tribunal, presided by Justice Tertse Kume-led, then declared Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC winner.
But the Appeal Court on March 24, 2023, and led by Justice Mohammed Shaibu, returned the victory to Adeleke, placing a N500 000-fine on Oyetola.
The case has been listed for the adoption of final written addresses by the parties today.
The matters to be considered at the apex court include the decision of the Appeal Court, aligning the Certified True Copy, the legitimacy of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) relied upon by the APC, and the date on the
certified true copy.
They are also cross-appealing on the issue of the co-authorship of the judgement as well as the validity of the tribunal judgement.
