APGA National Chairman Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa affirmed the AUTHENTIC National Chairman as Supreme Court Rules in his Favor and APGA – Written by Nduka Anyanwu
In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court has granted the appeal filed by the All-Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Sly Ezeokenwa, Esq. The Court’s ruling has brought clarity to the leadership crisis that has plagued the party, declaring that it did not declare Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA in its corrected judgment.
Furthermore, the Court has ordered Edozie Njoku to pay a cost of 20 million Naira for bringing a frivolous lawsuit at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. This
ruling is a significant victory for APGA and Sly Ezeokenwa, Esq., and is expected to bring stability to the party.
Background to the Matter
The leadership crisis in APGA began in 2021, when one Chief Jude Okeke and his group, acting in concert with Edozie Njoku, attempted to validate their purported APGA National Convention allegedly held in Owerri, Imo State. However, the Court of Appeal Kano Division invalidated the proceedings and judgment of the Jigawa State High Court, confirming that Chief Victor Ike Oye and those elected with him at the APGA National Convention at Awka in 2019 were the validly elected National Officers/Executives of APGA.
Implications of the Supreme Court’s Ruling
The Supreme Court’s ruling has significant implications for APGA and its members. The declaration that the Court did not declare Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA in its corrected judgment brings clarity to the leadership crisis and is expected to bring stability to the party.
The order for Edozie Njoku to pay a cost of 20 million Naira for bringing a frivolous lawsuit at the FCT High Court serves as a deterrent to others who may attempt to bring similar lawsuits in the future.
Meanwhile, reacting shortly after the judgement was delivered, Mr. Ezeokenwa commended the Judiciary for effectively putting an end to the leadership dispute in the party and for affirming him as the bonafide Chairman.
He said the court has through its judgement, proved that it is indeed the hope of the common man. “We should not always be saying bad things against the Judiciary. Today, I am very proud of our Judiciary as the last hope of the common man,” he said.
Conclusion
The Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of APGA and Sly Ezeokenwa, Esq. is a significant victory for the party and its members. The declaration that the
Court did not declare Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA in its corrected judgment brings clarity to the leadership crisis and is expected
to bring stability to the party.
