Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Agulu community, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State have been accused of pushing an 80-year-old woman to death on Wednesday.
The incident was said to have happened when the Police officers went to arrest the grandson of the old woman, Channels TV reported.
According to family members, on Wednesday morning, the policemen stormed the family’s compound early to arrest the deceased grandson for cult related matters.
The old woman was reportedly begging the Police officers to leave her grandson, who is a sickle cell patient when she was allegedly shoved aside by the officers and she fell to her death.
President-General of Agulu People’s Assembly, Anene Orakwelu reacting to the news said the State Police Command will open an investigation into the incident.
“The DPO, Anaocha and the Commander, Anti-Cult have assured us that no stone will be left unturned in unveiling whatever thing that happened here,” he said.
Members of the community are demanding for justice to be served.
