Security forces have successfully liberated the two United States embassy employees who were abducted during the assault on their convoy at Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State. The kidnapping case reportedly happened on Tuesday, 16th May.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesman for the state police, announced this in a press statement to newsmen in Awka on Friday, 19th May.
While their names and personal information remain anonymous to the public, Ikenga confirmed that the joint security forces managed to rescue them unharmed during the early hours of Friday.
He said, “On Friday, May 19, 2023, in the early hours, the joint security forces successfully liberated the two individuals who had been abducted during the assault on a US convoy along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. Thankfully, the victims were unharmed.”
Ikenga added, “Operations are still in progress, and additional information will be communicated in due course.”
