Cui Jinachun, the Ambassador of China to Nigeria, has said that plans are underway for Chinese banks to begin operations in Nigeria.
He also said that Nigerian banks that want to expand to China are welcomed whenever they are ready.
Cui who spoke to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday said investment in the two countries would improve chances of the Currency Swap agreement and make it succeed.
The ambassador said that the framework for the currency swap project is being expanded by the Chinese and Nigerian central banks.
“The agreement is being implemented by the two central banks; the framework would be expanded.
“I believe it is already working. I am working to have Chinese banks here in Nigeria and also for Nigerian banks to operate in China,” he said.
He said China wants closer ties with Nigerian lawmakers, adding that the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will hold in Senegal in November.
