Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi has reacted after an independent review panel led by former president of Ireland, Mary Robinson exonerated the President of Africa Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina.
Earlier this year, it was alleged that the bank had been marred by poor governance, impunity, personal enrichment and favouritism under Adesina’s leadership. In spite of Adesina’s insistence of being innocent and also being cleared of the charges by an ethics committee of the bank, the US insisted on an independent investigation with the North American country’s treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin saying that they have ” deep reservations about the integrity of the committee’s process”. This led to the set up of an independent panel which has also cleared Adesina. Read more
According to the former vice presidential candidate, “Mary Robinson is integrity personified” and the clearance given to Adesina has now given room for him to continue his good works at AFDB.
Peter Obi wrote:
“I am, like every well-meaning Nigerian, very delighted at the high level of integrity on display in the clearance of @AfDB_Group President, Dr @akin_adesina, by the Mary Robinson-led committee.
“Mary Robinson is integrity personified, and this clearance has finally given the “ok” for Adesina’s 2nd tenure to continue his good work for the African continent.
