Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been selected as the party’s Governorship candidate for the Imo Governorship election scheduled for 11th November, 2023.
He won the party’s primary election held on Wednesday, 12th April, at the party’s secretariat along Okigwe Road in Owerri, the state capital.
The State Organising Secretary of the main opposition party, Lawrence Biado, said the seven-man electoral panel made up of the National Working Committee and co-ordinated by Kenneth Okon was present to monitor the primary election.
However, report has it that Emeka Ihedioha, an ex-governor of the state, was clearly absent during the primary election.
By winning at the primaries, Samuel Anyanwu is expected to challenge the incumbent governor Hope Uzodinma in the upcoming Governorship polls.
