It is no longer news that controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, better known as Sam Larry has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command also confirmed the arrest on his Twitter page late Thursday night, saying that Sam Larry is in custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of late Singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad.
As at the time the news spread that Sam Larry has been arrested, it was not clear how the arrest took place. Now, details have emerged on how the popular music promoter was arrested.
According to Punch, a police source who does not want to be mentioned as he was not authorized to speak on the matter said he was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday evening.
He said, “Sam Larry was arrested at the airport after he arrived from Kenya. Our officers arrested him at the airport and he was immediately taken to the state police headquarters for questioning.”
Sam Larry’s name had featured prominently since the demand for justice over Mohbad’s death started to gain traction.
His arrest also came after late Mohbad’s former music label boss, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley announced his plan to return to Nigeria provided his safety was guaranteed.
The police had earlier invited the two for questioning over Mohbad’s demise.
The police, last week, also confirmed that pathologists have concluded the autopsy conducted on Mohbad, while the police await the result.
Hundeyin said, “Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting results.” This development followed the exhumation of Mohbad’s corpse by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.
The police had also arrested the nurse who reportedly injected the deceased singer before his demise on Tuesday, September 12.
