Mohammed Umar, the Head of Operations at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has assumed as the acting chairman of the anti-graft agency.
Umar, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, was the second most senior official at the agency when Ibrahim Magu was the head.
Umar is said to act as chairman pending the completion of the ongoing probe of the former acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu or the appointment of a new one.
Also take note that there are reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has penciled down Bala Ciroma, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command as replacement for Magu.
In the mean time, Magu has reportedly moved his personal belongings out of his official residence in Maitama even as his Karu residence in Abuja was searched by security operatives on Tuesday evening.
These are obviously connected to the ongoing investigations into allegations of corruption leveled against him.
It is not clear if the security operatives visited his official residence in Maitama, but information gathered revealed that the suspended EFCC boss has packed his personal properties from the Maitama house.
