An upper Area Court in Yola has issued an injunction restraining the Miyetti Allah cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) from conducting any elections in Adamawa.
The presiding judge of the court, Abubakar Muhammad granted an interim injunction barring MACBAN from conducting election, congress or any gathering for the purpose of determining the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Adamawa pending the hearing and determination of the case on the matter.
The order was given following a motion ex parte filed by Abubakar Yirlabe, Usman Liman ,Adamu Bodewa and Gambo Ardo Sira, claiming that they were excluded from purchasing nomination forms and other process in the scheduled state elections.
The plaintiffs had alleged that some powerful members of the group had hatched plans to stop some aspirants from contesting, “It has come to our attention the desperate moves by some ousted leaders to upturn the mandate of our members.
“One of the alleged moves is to secretly screen and conducts the elections with only few aspirants.
“They intend to hijack the state caretaker chairman and that prompted us to seek redress and as you can see the court had restrained them from conducting the election pending the determination of this case,’’ said Abubakar Yirlabe one of the aggrieved member.
The case was adjourned to February 3 for the hearing of a motion on an interlocutory injunction.
Leadership crisis had rocked some state chapters in recent time which led to the dissolution of states’ leadership with the appointment of caretaker committees.
