Dauda Bello, a hit-and-run driver, has been apprehended by the Lagos State Taskforce for reckless driving.
Gbadeyan Abduraheem, the Taskforce Director, Press & Public Affairs, said in a statement that the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, January 21, left the victim, Oluwole Bukola, a resident of Ibafo, Ogun State, severely injured.
The spokesman said that an initial investigation revealed that the accident was caused by overspeeding and reckless driving by the driver who is a resident of Adebayo Street, Oshodi.
“Swift intervention by officers of the Lagos State Taskforce ensured that the victim received immediate medical attention, while the driver was promptly arrested,” Abduraheem stated.
Commenting on the incident, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, called on motorists to prioritize safety on the roads.
“I urge all road users to exercise caution and be considerate of others while driving. Driving is not a race to a destination, but a responsibility that requires patience and focus at all times,” he said.
The Chairman assured Lagos, residents, that the agency remains committed to ensuring law, order and safety on the roads while promoting decorum and accountability for all road users.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Agency and will be charged to court in accordance with the law of the state.
