A Nigerian lady has been arrested for brutalizing her 19-year-old house girl in Ezinifite, Aguata Anambra State.
The victim whose name is Chidiebere Otenyi is a native of Nkanu in Enugu state.
It was reported that she was beaten by her madam, Mrs Martha Umenweke because she stole N5,000.
She was rescued by a whistle-blower who witnessed the ugly incident and brought it to the attention of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo.
After the rescue, Chidiebere said she had lived with Martha for a year and four months, and she got severely punished at the slightest provocation especially being starved.
When more questions were asked, it was discovered that the 19-year-old is still in primary 3, and according to her, her madam was the one who demoted her in class when she came.
The case has been handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution at the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Magistrate Court in Awka.
