Kogi state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna, has reacted to the viral reports that the state governor, Yahaya Bello tested positive for Coronavirus.
This morning, reports that the Governor tested positive for coronavirus went viral. The report also claimed that the governor was told about his status yesterday but he was yet to make it open to Kogi people.
When contacted to confirmed the viral news, the commissioner for health reportedly told The Nation to ‘ignored such lies’.
“That is incorrect. Please, ignore such lies.” He said.
However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have asked the governor to immediately self-isolate and go for testing. The party appealed to the governor to be truthful with his COVID-19 test results.
Governor Bello is one of the top government officials who recently had direct contact with Chief of staff, Abbah Kyari who tested positive.
After Abba Kyari returned from Germany on 14 March, he led the Presidential delegation that went to Kogi state on March 17 to commiserate with Governor Bello on the death of his mother.
Lai Mohammed, Shehu Garba, Senator George Akume, and other top officials were also at the event.
