The United States of America has recorded its first coronavirus death on US soil in Washington state, an official said on Saturday.
US health officials on Friday had reported a fourth case of novel coronavirus of unknown origin, indicating the disease was spreading in the country.
Officials say the man died in King County.
“Our hearts go out to his family and friends. We will continue to work toward a day where no one dies from this virus,” a statement by Washington governor Jay Inslee said.
This news no doubt adds to the worry of health officials in California, Oregon and Washington state, after three patients were found to be infected by unknown means yesterday.
Meanwhile, a week ago, President Donald Trump said America was doing a great job and there was no case of the novel virus in the US.
