Barrister Chyma Anthony has applauded the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for conducting a thorough screening exercise.
The U.K trained attorney who is a senatorial aspirant is in the 2023 race seeking to represent Imo East (Owerri Zone) in the Nigerian Red Chambers.
After getting screened by his party, APGA, on Thursday, Mr Anthony praised the screening committee for conducting a thorough exercise and called on Nigerians to elect lawmakers who will make laws that will lift Nigerians out of poverty and curtail insecurity.
According to him, “There’s governance deficit in the country and the National Assembly have failed to make laws that are beneficial to the people.
“This time, Nigerians need to get it right by electing lawmakers who have the goal to make laws that will lift Nigerians out of poverty. Laws that will provide security, laws that will ensure education for all . Better health care. A reduction in poverty will affect security.
“You cannot address insecurity without addressing the issue of street children. They beg on the street today because of their tender age. From nine years, they get recruited into the underworld.
“We need a surgical operation in this country from bottom to the top. We need to get it right this time. Say no to pettifogging time wasters as lawmakers.”
APGA did the screening of National Assembly aspirants on Wednesday, 20th April and Thursday 21st April.
Screening of the Presidential aspirants follows on Friday and Saturday, 22-23 April, While Screening of State House of Assembly aspirants will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, 26 and 27 April, 2023.
