A Mexican governor, Miguel Barbosa, has stirred up controversy after stating that poor people are immune to the coronavirus as he argued that majority of the country’s cases are wealthy people.
The coronavirus is an ongoing global pandemic, which is responsible for the death of over 23,000, having infected over 400,000 people.
The governor of the city of Puebla, in Mexico courted controversy after he said: ‘If you are rich, you are at risk. If you are poor, no… We poor people, we are immune.’
Several scientists criticized him for his claims, calling him an ‘idiot’ and saying his theory was ‘incredibly stupid’.
Mexico has 475 cases of coronavirus and six deaths so far.
