A Nigerian lady has shared her encounter with a man who made her uncomfortable by spreading his legs wide on a commercial tricycle.
The lady wrote on X: “Told the elderly man sitting next to me on this keke, legs spread wide and discomforting the rest of us, to close his legs and he looked so affronted.
‘I should close my legs? What do you mean?’
Almost as if no one has ever told him to do that in his entire life.”
“I said, ‘Oga, close your legs. If you cannot close them and sit properly, come down go enter your car. Am I paying less money than you? So why would you discomfort me?’ A vein nearly popped from his forehead.”
She added: “I liikee being rude to older men who misbehave in public spaces, I really really do. They always look so scandalised. Before they gather their thoughts, I’ve smacked them with ‘what will you do? I have your type at home.’ Or ‘Oga, come down. I wan carry drop.’ Hehe.”
“This is one of those acts of microfeminism I’m always talking about, yunno.
Women are constantly makingconcessions, adjusting, compromising, diminishing ourselves so men can be more comfortable, so much so that they now feel entitled to your discomfort and compromise.
