Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has finally reacted to the ongoing online protests against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police force.
Recall that Nigerians have been protesting online since yesterday about the seeming unending harassment, extortions, and extrajudicial killing by operatives of SARS, and how the police unit have killed more Nigerian youths than armed robbers.
Reacting to the ongoing protest, Governor Sanwo-Olu regretted the disturbing incidences and promised that something will be done about the situation quickly.
He wrote:
“The safety of our residents is my number one duty as the CSO of Lagos. So, reading reports of seemingly unlawful exploitation by the people charged to protect is very worrying & needs to be addressed immediately. Be assured that appropriate actions will be taken, & speedily too.
Reacting to the Governor’s comments, Singer Wizkid urged the him to do something so that young people can be proud of him.
