The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State has commiserated with the people of Abaezi in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area following the recent explosion in their community, which led to the death of over a hundred persons.
After leaders of the party comprising Ohaji-Egbema LGA chairman, Obinna Anene; Ward Executive members; House of Assembly Aspirant, Hon Ferdinand Amanze and officers of NEMA visited the scene of the tragic incident, the party blasted the Government of Hope Uzodinma for not creating jobs to discourage young people from going into such illegal business which has now cost them their lives.
In the statement released on Monday, April 25 by Comrade Chilagorom Ifeanyi, the DG of Imo APGA Media, the party urged the State Governor to “live up to his responsibility as as number one citizen of the state and personally visit Abaezi to condole with the people, and assist those who sustained serious degrees of injuries instead of sending an aide.”
“With a broken heart, Imo APGA as one united family, sympathises with the good people of Ohaji-Egbema for such terrible occurrence. May God Almighty accept the souls of the victims and give the affected families heart to bear it all.
“Had it been there is job creation in Imo State, majority of the youths would not have been involved in such illegal and suicidal act. When a government woefully fails to live up to its responsibilities by creating job opportunities for the youths and doing well to protect lives and property of the citizens, the outcome remains ill acts and untimely death. It is very unfortunate that since the emergence of Senator Uzodinma as Imo Governor, Imolites have not had breath of fresh air. It has been from one ugly incident to another.
“That the present Imo Governor has not personally visited Abaezi, Ohaji-Egbema till this moment, is very unfortunate and shows the incompetence of a leader. It clearly shows that lives and property of Imo citizens do not matter to Uzodinma at all. As Imo APGA sympathises with the good people of Ohaji-Egbema, the Party as a matter of urgency, calls on Imo Governor to save the lives of about one hundred and fifty people who sustained serious degrees of burns by making sure they are well-treated.”
