Former minister of Education and co-convener of #BringBackOurGirls, Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted after award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie appeared at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja in support of Peter Obi.
Adichie trended on Tuesday after she joined the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, at the tribunal.
Reacting to Adichie’s unexpected appearance, Ezekwesili said it was awesome and a “demonstration of what #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary actually means”.
The author attended the court hearing to witness the adoption of the final written addresses by the petitioners against President Bola Tinubu.
Recall that Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 presidential election.
Chimamanda, who had earlier written to the United States President, Joe Biden, over the flaw in the 2023 election, had consistently called on the judiciary to give a fair judgement on the case.
Although Biden failed to acknowledge Adichie’s letter, however, this has not in any way deterred her support for the former governor of Anambra State.
Reacting to this, Ezekwesili wrote: “Awesome! This is an exemplary demonstration of what #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary actually means by @ChimamandaReal. All our 👀 are definitely watching our Judiciary intensely. #OfficeOfTheCitizen is the highest Office in a Democracy”
If they like let them reserve the judgement like Nigeria DSS reserved Nnamdi Kanu in their Prison, we are out here waiting but one day.
