Former President Goodluck Jonathan has arrived Bamako, Mali, on a mediation mission alongside a team of the Economic Community of West Africa State (ECOWAS).
President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the country earlier alongside other African heads of states.
Jonathan who is an ECOWAS Envoy announced his arrival through his social media pages on Thursday.
He wrote:
“I arrived Bamako this morning, the second time I will be visiting Mali with my Ecowas_Cedeao team on a mediation mission in a week.
I am happy that we are being joined here in Bamako today by a High-Level Mission of five West African Heads of State who are visiting Mali to hold further consultations with Malian stakeholders.
“The High-Level Mission includes Nigerian President His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, His Excellency Mahamadou Issoufou, President of the Republic of Niger and Chair of ECOWAS Authority, His Excellency Macky Sall President of Senegal, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, President of Cote d’Ivoire and His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President of the Republic of Ghana.
“I am quite hopeful that the political crisis in Mali will soon be resolved.
