The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting electoral democracy and sustainable development in Nigeria. In a recent proclamation, the party’s leadership emphasized the need for free, fair, and credible elections as the foundation of a thriving democracy.

APGA’s National Chairman Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa stressed that the party is dedicated to entrenching democratic values and principles that guarantee the participation of all citizens in the electoral process. He noted that the party’s vision aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs), particularly Goal 16, which focuses on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice, and effective institutions.

The APGA National Leadership has identified five critical areas to concentrate its efforts, aiming to drive transformative change in Nigeria:

1. Electoral Reform: Championing a radical overhaul of Nigeria’s electoral system to
ensure:

    • Transparency in voter registration, ballot counting, and results collation
    • Accountability of electoral officials and political actors
    • The credibility of elections, free from manipulation and rigging

    2. Sustainable Development: Promoting policies and programs that:

      • Drive environmentally friendly economic growth, reducing poverty and
        inequality
      • Foster social justice, ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities
      • Protect Nigeria’s rich environmental heritage, preserving natural resources
        for future generations

      3. Good Governance: Encouraging:

        • Accountable leadership, where officials are answerable to citizens
        • Transparency in government dealings, budgets, and decision-making processes
        • Active citizen participation in governance, through inclusive decision-
          making mechanisms

        4. Youth Empowerment: Empowering Nigerian youth through:

          • Quality education, equipping them with skills for the modern economy
          • Vocational training and skills development, enhancing employability
          • Economic opportunities, including entrepreneurship support and job
            creation initiatives

          5. National Unity: Fostering:

            • National cohesion, by promoting a shared sense of purpose and belonging
            • Tolerance and understanding among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious
              groups
            • Peaceful coexistence, through inclusive policies and conflict resolution mechanisms

By championing electoral democracy and sustainable development, APGA aims to
contribute to a prosperous and equitable Nigeria, where citizens enjoy the benefits of good governance and inclusive growth. The party’s leadership called on Nigerians to join forces in building a brighter future for the country.

It is important to note that the specific details and recommendations put forth by the APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa may be of utmost important for implementation by our politically elected personnel, their SA’s, Ministers as well ministry and parastatal for good governance structure that will bring about effective productivity.
