Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari has said it is not enough to close down schools while parents still have to go to work, because those same parents could get infected outside and infect their kids with the virus.
She tweeted: “It is commendable that state governors have closed down schools; however, this could be counterproductive if parents are still going to work. We should not isolate students and expose their parents. Let us remember that they will meet at home. #TotalLockDown #StayAtHome.”
However, Nigerians reacted by asking what plans the government has put in place to cater for citizens if they do not work to make money for their families.
Some also reminded the first lady that Nigeria still doesn’t have social amenities like steady electricity, running water and others to sustain families during her suggested lockdown.
