There was pandemonium in Sagamu on Saturday as assistant Captain of Remo Stars football Club, Tiyamiyu Kazeem, known as Kaka became the newest victim of the unprofessional conduct of Men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Kazeem was alleged to have been killed by a operative of SARS from the Ogun State Command.
It was gathered that Kaka was on his way to Sagamu from Abeokuta after his training when he ran into SARS operatives who labeled him a yahoo boy and started chasing him.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the officers shot at his car tyre which made it somersault. On seeing what had happened, the officials ran away, leaving Kaka to his fate.
His club, in a statement on its Twitter handle on Saturday said they regret to announce the departure of “our assistant Captain and Defender, Tiyamiyu Kazeem (Kaka).
“The Club is doing everything possible to investigate his ultimately death. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
“Until his death, he was a humble and reliable defender for Remo Stars FC in the ongoing 2019/2020 Nigeria National League (NNL).”
The club further twitted: “He was immediately rushed to Fakoya Hospital in Sagamu, where it was confirmed that Tiyamiyu Kazeem was no more,”
“May his soul rest in perfect peace and may the Lord help the family to bear the irreparable loss, this is a great loss to Remo Stars Family and the entire football fraternity,”.
Remo Stars Football Club is a Nigerian football club based in Sagamu, Ogun state. They play in the second division in Nigerian football, the Nigeria National League.
