The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has labelled Governor Godwin Obaseki as a tyrant and an emperor following his decision to resign from the party.
After visiting the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, the governor announced his resignation from the APC and assured Edo citizens of his commitment to continue to fight for good governance in the state.
Reacting to the development, Edo APC took to its Twitter page to say that Obaseki can not hold the party hostage, adding that no individual is above the party.
The tweet reads; “No man is above the Party, one man cannot hold the Party hostage. Bye bye to yeye gov Godwin Obaseki.”
Again in another tweet, the party described Obaseki as a ‘Tyrant Emperor’ while reacting to the report that Governor Obaseki has vowed to quarantine any ‘busy body’ governor that meddles with APC primary election in the state.

Meanwhile, the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress has said it was yet to be notified of the reported resignation of the Edo State Governor.
National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said this in response to inquiries about Obaseki’s resignation.
He said, “The party has no record of the reported defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the Progressive party.
“We cannot comment at this moment on media reports suggesting the Edo governor or anyone else has left our great party.”
