Bullion Van: Aisha questions EFCC over failure to probe Bola Tinubu

The co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign, Aisha Yesufu, has questioned the Enconomic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over its failure to probe the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Mrs Yesufu who is one of the major critics of President Muhammadu Buhari made the query on Tuesday morning via her official Twitter handle told EFCC to stop ridiculing itself and truly be the institution it is meant to be.

Recall that two bullion vans were spotted at Tinubu’s Bourdillon home in Ikoyi, Lagos State, a day before the commencement of the 2019 general elections in February 2019.

Reacting to the development at the time, Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State had frowned at those questioning the appearance of the vans at his residence, saying that since there was no report that the bullion vans contained electoral materials, he had committed no offence.

The APC National Leader had also said he had not stolen government money, adding that he has had no contact with government money in any way in the last five years.

His words: “What is your issue with bullion vans in my house?
I have not done any government business in the last five years.
So I didn’t steal government money.
And the bullion van was not said to contain election materials.
So what offence have I committed.
I have had no contact with government money in the last five years.
So I don’t see why that should be anybody’s problem.
It is my money.
I decide where to keep it and where to keep it.”

Apparently displeased with the EFCC’s inability to probe the incident after several months, Deji Adeyanju, the convener of Concerned Nigerians, petitioned the anti-graft agency over the matter.

However, since Adeyanju’s petition, the EFCC is yet to issue a statement regarding its next move on the issue prompting Yesufu to react.

Obviously displeased with the failure to probe Tinubu who is not under any immunity, Aisha questioned the anti-graft agency’s motive behind the decision.

The controversial social activist wrote: “It is quite pathetic how @officialEFCC is ridiculing itself. Instead of being an institution it has become a organisation in the pocket of a few.

“If Ganduje has immunity & you refused to go after him what does Tinubu have? Anointing?
Are some Nigerians more Nigerians than other?” She questioned.
