The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the deregistration of 74 political parties.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made the announcement during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday as preparations for the 2023 general elections gather momentum.
Before the 2019 general election, the commission revealed that there were a total of 92 parties. With the deregistration of about 80% of the political parties, Nigeria now has 18 left.
