Omar Jimenez, a correspondent of Cable News Network (CNN), was arrested live on air a few minutes ago while reporting on the scene of the ongoing protests in Minneapolis.
The camera crew and Omar’s producer we’re also arrested. The reason for the arrest is yet to be ascertain. However, before the arrest, police could be overheard asking Mr Jimenez and his television crew to step backwards.
Footages of the arrest quickly emerged online.
Jimenez’s colleagues also took to twitter to express outrage over the incident.
They have been very chaotic protest in Minneapolis since a black man identified as George Floyd was murdered by a white police officer who knelt on his neck. Although the officer has been dismissed, charges are yet to be filed against him.
