Adams Oshiomhole will continue to be National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Monday granted his request to suspend the execution of the court order which temporarily sacked him.
Recall that on March 4, 2020 a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) gave an order restraining Oshiomhole from further acting at chairman of the party.
Oshiomhole filed for a stay of execution which was scheduled to be heard today. Surprisingly, the court sat and heard other cases, leaving the case that will decide Oshiomhole’s fate. In another dramatic twist, the court sent out notices scheduling to hear the case at 4pm on Monday.
When the three-man panel of the court, led by Justice Abubakar Datti Yahaha reconvened, they unanimous granted the reliefs contained in an ex-parte motion argued by lead lawyer to Oshiomhole and the APC, Wole Olanipekun (SAN).
In the lead ruling by Justice Yahaya, the court also restrained the respondents from further taking any further steps in relation to the March 4, 2020 order by Justice Danlami Senchi of the High Court of the FCT.
Justice Yahaha added: “We employ political parties to try to resolve their differences amicably without having to unnecessarily bother the court.”
