One person who was in direct contact with Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19), making it the second case in the state.
This was disclosed in a situation update given by the Commissioner for Health , Dr.Aliyu Maigoro while addressing newsmen in Bauchi, the state capital on Thursday.
The commissioner disclosed that the second case is a 62-year-old male and a close friend of governor Bala Mohammed.
Maigoro explained that 48 samples were taken for test and two have been confirmed positive.
He added that 37 others returned negative while the results of nine samples were still pending.
The commissioner noted that the State Ministry of Health has since begun the contact tracing of the second case.
It would be recalled that governor Bala Mohammed claimed that he tested positive for coronavirus after contact with former Vice President’s son, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar who earlier tested positive to Covid -19
Meanwhile, Mohammed Atiku later denied being in close contact with the governor and revealed that the governor recently returned from Germany where he must have exposed himself to the virus.
