“APGA Leadership Tussle: Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa Assures of Corrective Action on INEC’s Recognition of Edozie Njoku – By NDUKA ANYANWU – SA Media to the APGA National Chairman
Background: The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been embroiled in a leadership crisis, with Edozie Njoku claiming to be the National Chairman. Despite court judgments affirming Victor Oye and later Sly Ezeokenwa as the legitimate Chairmen, INEC recently recognized Edozie Njoku, sparking controversy. In response, APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has vowed that INEC’s recognition of Edozie Njoku will be corrected, dismissing it as
a temporary submission to blackmail and a laughing matter, Ezeokenwa emphasized that neither the Appeal Court nor the Supreme Court judgments declared Edozie Njoku the National Chairman of APGA. He clarified that the Owerri Convention that purportedly elected Edozie Njoku was nullified by the Appeal Court and Supreme Court judgments.
Ezeokenwa made the statement while appearing on AIT’s flagship program Democracy Today and queried INEC to study both the recent Appeal Court judgment,
its earlier Kano division judgment, and the Supreme Court judgment, none of which pronounced Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA and buttressed that one
of the orders sought by Edozie Njoku to be declared APGA National Chairman was not granted by the Court. Ezeokenwa maintained that the Owerri Convention that purportedly produced Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA was nullified by the Appeal Court and Supreme Court judgments after the Jigawa State High Court validated it.
Ezeokenwa stressed that the recent Court of Appeal judgment affirmed the FCT High Court’s ruling, stating that Victor Oye couldn’t have acted as APGA National Chairman. He noted that APGA and he, as the successor to Oye, were not joined in the suit, which had no effect on the party or him as the APGA National Chairman.
The APGA National Chairman reiterated that the Supreme Court’s corrected judgment mentioned Edozie Njoku in the background facts but did not change the substance of the suit, which nullified the Owerri Convention. He described the contempt proceedings filed by Njoku against INEC as blackmail and an interlocutory injunction granted by the FCT High Court.
Ezeokenwa assured APGA members that INEC would correct the misnomer, ending the “macabre dance.” He emphasized that the Anambra State High Court and Federal High Court in Abuja declared Oye the APGA National Chairman, upheld by the Appeal Court, and that APGA conducted the national convention that produced him as Chairman.
In essence, Ezeokenwa dismissed INEC’s recognition of Edozie Njoku as a temporary submission to blackmail, which would be corrected, and reassured APGA members of his legitimate leadership. For more information –https://www.instagram.com/delaweze/reel/C9Qb3HrM0r6/
