Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari on Saturday shared with Nigerians the efforts she’s making to partner with United Arab Emirates to facilitate the removal Almajiris from the streets.
Taking to her official Twitter handle this afternoon, the wife of the president revealed that she received the Ambassador of UAE, Dr Fahad Al Taffaq in her ‘office’.
The First Lady also disclosed that they had discussion on humanitarian initiatives in the areas of Health, Education, and taking Almajiri’s off the streets.
She wrote: “This Week, I received the ambassador of UAE, His Excellency Amb. Dr. Fahad Al Taffaq in my office, We had a discussion on humanitarian initiatives in the areas of Health, Education, and taking Almajiri’s off the streets and incorporating them into western education as already initiated in Kano and other states.
“We also discussed possibilities of partnership in Health, especially in the areas of specialised health care services.”
Well, after reading her tweet, some of her followers commended her. But, many others became more concerned that she ‘received’ the Ambassador in her ‘office’ and began to inquire why she has an office.
Recall that prior to the emergence of President Buhari in 2015, Both the president and his wife had said that the office of the First Lady is not recognized by Nigerian law and would not be allowed to operate and waste tax payers’ money.
So, now that the president’s wife received a high profile dignitary in her ‘office’, Nigerians want to know the office she is talking about.
