A conversation between a Patriotic Nigerian and a Confused one
Ugochukwu: Ah, my brother, my sister, what’s troubling your mind about our beloved Nigeria?
Chimankpam: Ehn, I love this country, but sometimes, I just don’t understand where we’re heading. The roads, the electricity, everything seems to be in disarray.
Ugochukwu: True, true, these challenges are real. But remember, Nigeria is like a big family – we have our squabbles, but at the heart of it, we have so much potential. Look at our youth, full of energy and creativity, pushing forward in tech, music, and art.
Chimankpam: But what about the corruption, the governance? It feels like we take one step forward and ten steps back.
Ugochukwu: I hear you, and it’s frustrating. But we must not forget, change begins with us. We’ve had moments of greatness, think about our sports stars, our Nollywood, our music on the global stage. We’ve shown the world what we can do when we unite for a common cause.
Chimankpam: Unity, that’s a big word. How can we unite when there’s so much division?
Ugochukwu: Unity doesn’t mean we all think the same or come from the same place. It means despite our differences, we work towards a common goal – a better Nigeria. Each one of us can make a difference, whether it’s by voting wisely, speaking up against injustice, or simply helping our community.
Chimankpam: Maybe I’ve been too focused on what’s going wrong. But how do we keep the hope alive?
Ugochukwu: By celebrating our small victories, by supporting local initiatives, and by educating ourselves and others. Every time you see a Nigerian doing great things, share it, support it. And remember, our history is rich with resilience – from independence to now, we’ve overcome much.
Chimankpam: You’re right. Maybe I need to look at things differently, see the opportunities amidst the chaos.
Ugochukwu: Exactly! Let’s keep the love for our country burning bright. We are the change we seek, and together, we can steer Nigeria towards the greatness it deserves. Let’s not lose hope; let’s be the hope.
