As the world marks International Women’s Day, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, the APGA National Chairman, has added his voice to the global chorus advocating for women’s equality, empowerment, and gender balance. In a statement that resonates with the spirit of this special day, Ezeokenwa emphasized the need for collective action to create a more inclusive and equitable society.

At the heart of Ezeokenwa’s message lies the recognition that promoting gender equality and empowering women is essential to building a just and prosperous society. This vision is rooted in three key pillars:
1. Accelerating Women’s Equality: Ensuring that women have equal access to education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and political participation. This requires addressing systemic barriers and biases that have historically hindered women’s progress.
2. Empowering Women: Supporting women’s autonomy, agency, and decision-making power in their personal and professional lives. This involves promoting women’s leadership, challenging patriarchal norms, and providing resources and opportunities for women to thrive.
3. Achieving Gender Balance: Promoting equal representation of women and men in all sectors, including politics, business, and
education. This requires intentional efforts to address the gender gap and create a more inclusive culture.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, APGA will be hosting its Maiden National Women’s Conference to advocate for increased participation of women in governance at all levels. This conference will be a testament to the party’s commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

Let us recommit ourselves to this vision of a more just and equitable world. Let us join forces to accelerate women’s empowerment, challenge patriarchal norms, and promote gender equality in all aspects of life. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
As Ezeokenwa so eloquently puts it, “we must work together to create a more inclusive and equitable society”. Today and every day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across Anambra State, Nigeria, and our Political Party. Happy International Women’s Day!
