The APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa reexamines Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and the Task for Sustaining the Fight against Insecurity Amidst Its Challenges – Written by Nduka Anyanwu

Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the current Governor of Anambra State, has been at the forefront of the fight against insecurity in the state. Since assuming office, he has made it clear that tackling insecurity is one of his top priorities.

The APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, highlights the key challenges as well proffer strategies to sustain the fight against insecurity in the State.

1. Inherited Insecurity: Soludo inherited a state plagued by various forms of insecurity, including kidnappings, armed robbery, and cult-related violence.

2. Limited Resources: The state’s limited resources pose a significant challenge in funding security operations and initiatives.

3. Community Trust: Rebuilding trust between the government and communities affected by insecurity is crucial but challenging.

4. Intelligence Gathering: Effective intelligence gathering and sharing are essential in combating insecurity, but this requires significant investment in technology and human resources.

    STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINING THE FIGHT

    1. Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with local communities, encouraging them to provide valuable intelligence and support security efforts.

    2. Security Sector Reform: Implement reforms within the security sector to ensure effective coordination, communication, and response to security threats.

    3. Investment in Technology: Leverage technology, such as CCTV cameras and drones, to enhance surveillance and intelligence gathering capabilities.

    4. Economic Empowerment: Implement initiatives aimed at addressing poverty and unemployment, which are often drivers of insecurity.

    5. Collaboration with Neighboring States: Foster cooperation with neighboring states to share intelligence, coordinate security efforts, and address regional security challenges.

      CONCLUSION
      Governor Soludo’s commitment to tackling insecurity in Anambra State is commendable. However, sustaining the fight against insecurity will require a multifaceted approach that addresses the root causes of insecurity, leverages technology, and fosters community engagement and cooperation. By
