President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja for London on Wednesday, 3rd May, to join other world leaders invited to the coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Camilla.
This was disclosed in a statement entitled ‘President Buhari to attend coronation of King Charles in London,’ and signed by the media aide, Femi Adesina. It read:
“Ahead of the coronation, the Commonwealth Secretariat will take advantage of the gathering of leaders in London to host a Commonwealth Summit for Presidents and Heads of Government of Commonwealth countries on Friday, May 5.”
The statement also revealed that the Nigerian leader is billed to participate in the Summit which will address the future of the Commonwealth and the Role of the Youth.
King Charles ascended the British throne on September 8, 2022, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, following the British line of succession. And he and his wife would be crowned His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, respectively on Saturday, 6th May.
Other officials to join the president to the Coronation Ceremony are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; the National Security Adviser, Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno (retd.); the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar; the Chairperson/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa and other senior government officials.
