Ugonna Ozurigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been come-off winner of the February 25 House of Representatives election conducted in Nwangele/ Nkwerre/ Isu/ Njaba Federal Constituency of Imo State.
Prof. Rosetta Okechukwu, the collation officer for the federal constituency, said the PDP candidate emerged victorious with 19,971 votes, with the Labour Party candidate polling 9, 372 votes as second, and Harrison Nwadike of the APC getting 8,991 votes as third place.
The election had earlier been declared inconclusive by INEC who said elections didn’t take place in some parts of Njaba L.G.A.
However, the umpire’s decision was met with challenge from Ozurigbo, who said that his already acquired votes surpasses the PVC’s not collected in the parts of Njaba where the election wasn’t held.
After reviews on the claim, INEC finally announced Ozurigbo the winner of the polls after two months.
