The incumbent governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that the fear of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) will not make him run away from Nigeria after his tenure.
Wike said this in response to the statement by EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who said that the commission would come after corrupt governors whose tenure will end on May 29. He said that he would instead honour any invitation from the commission to appear before them.
“I’m not going to run away because of EFCC. Why should they invite me? If they invite me, I will honour their invitation. I will not run away,” he said on Channels Television breakfast program, SUNRISE.
