A 23-year-old identified as Dominic David has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court for allegedly defiling a minor.
David reportedly committed this offence on January 24, 2023 at Basic Road, Odode Street, Idanre community.
Report has it that the paedophile had enticed the 5-year-old girl into his room. He then took advantage of the minor within the private space, slipping his finger into her genitals.
It was said that the girl later told her mother what David had done to her, prompting the his arrest.
During David’s arraignment in court, police prosecutor Matins Olowofeso revealed to the court that the accused was a repeat offender.
“Last year, David did same thing to the victim’s elder sister who was ten years old then. He signed an undertaking not to do such again upon his release,” Olowofeso said.
Olowofeso also added that the offence contravened Section 4 (1) and (2) of the VAPPLAW of Ondo State 2021.
The defendant’s plea was ignored, with the presiding Magistrate, Folashade Aduroja, ordering his being remanded in police custody.
Magistrate Aduroja adjourned the case to February 9, for mentioning.
