Ezeokenwa – Written by Nduka Anyanwu, SA- Media to The APGA National Chairman.
As the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa was delighted witnessing a groundbreaking ceremony that marked the beginning of a new era in progressive governance, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) came together to launch the construction of
an access road linking the 2nd Niger Bridge in Anambra State. This monumental project is a testament to the commitment of both parties to work towards the betterment of the people.

President Bola Tinubu said the construction of Phase 2B of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge in Onitsha, is a crucial step towards improving transport infrastructure and regional connectivity in the South East.
Represented by Anambra Governor Charles Soludo, Tinubu acknowledged the significant impact of the Second Niger Bridge, inaugurated in 2023, in easing travel between the South East and other regions.

However, Tinubu noted that the bridge’s full benefits have been hindered by incomplete access roads. To address this, the newly launched Phase 2B aims to enhance connectivity with a 17.5km dual carriageway featuring seven bridges and modern infrastructure, including security cameras to boost safety.
The project’s scope includes:
1. Dual Carriageway: A 17.5km dual carriageway to enhance connectivity and reduce travel
time.
2. Seven Bridges: Seven bridges to facilitate smooth travel and reduce
congestion.
3. Modern Infrastructure: Modern infrastructure, including security
cameras, to ensure safety and security along the route.
4. Interchanges: The road will pass through several interchanges, including the Old Enugu Road Interchange, Ogidi, Nkpor-Umuoji Road Interchange, and the Asaba-Igbuzor Road Interchange.

Minister of Works Dave Umahi praised Governor Soludo’s leadership and highlighted Anambra’s 18 ongoing federal road projects. Umahi assured that payments would be linked to work progress, with 30% of the contract sum already disbursed.
The contractor, CGC Nigeria Limited, promised to complete the project on schedule while maintaining the highest quality standards.
The access road, which is a critical component of the project, will ensure seamless connectivity between the bridge and the surrounding areas. This infrastructure development is a shining example of progressive governance, where both APGA and APC have put aside their differences to work towards a common goal.
Key Benefits of the Project
1. Improved Connectivity: The access road will provide a direct link between the 2nd Niger Bridge and the surrounding areas,
facilitating the movement of people and goods.
2. Economic Growth: The project will stimulate economic growth by
providing a boost to local businesses and creating new job opportunities.
3. Enhanced Safety: The access road will improve safety by reducing the risk of accidents and providing a more efficient transportation route.
The collaboration between APGA and APC on this project is a beacon of hope for progressive governance in Nigeria. By working together, both parties have demonstrated their commitment to putting the needs of the people above political differences. As the people of Anambra State and the surrounding regions look forward to the completion of this project, they can take pride in knowing that their leaders are working tirelessly to improve their lives.
