Former governor of Bornu State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has formally withdrawn from the national chairmanship race of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sheriff made this declaration on Sunday in Abuja.
The frontline politician said he made the decision after the party zoned the office of the national chairman to the North Central region as he is from the North East region.
The chairmanship race will take place at the convention taking scheduled to take place on March 26 in Abuja.
The aspirants of National chairmanship position of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) paid N20m each for nomination forms while aspirants for the office of Deputy National Chairmanship paid N10 million. Other positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party cost N5 million each.
