A non partisan political pressure group in Imo state, Imo Concerned Citizens (ICC) has thrown its full unalloyed support behind the political aspirations of Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, the House of Representatives member-elect, representing Okigwe South to clinch the office of the Speaker, Federal House of Representative in the 9th Assembly.
The delegation was led by The Convener of ICC Worldwide, Hon. Amadichi Divine Chike and the State Chairman of ICC Hon. Roland Nnamdi Gabriel and also included the Orlu Zonal Chairman Engr. Gabriel Nwankwo, The Owerri North LGA Chairman Comrade Anthony Nge and The Isiala Mbano LGA Chairman Hon. Mbawuike O. Mbawuike.
Making its support known yesterday, 1st of June, 2019 during a solidarity visit to Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba at his hometown in Ehime Mbano LGA, The Convener of the group, Hon. Amadichi Divine Chike said that at this auspicious moment when there is need to strengthen national unity and cohesion in the interest of national stability, fairness and balance, Hon. Nwajiuba’s competence, experience and ability to build bridges across different divides makes him best suited for the Speakership Position of the Federal House of Representatives.
Also Speaking at the visit, The State Chairman of Imo Concerned Citizens, Hon. Roland N. Gabriel stated that their support for him is anchored on his well-known antecedents as a detribalised Nigerian, an achiever, administrator, bridge builder and a democrat, adding that he has the needed legislative experience, tact and maturity and is best placed as a ranking Member-elect from the South East to lead the 9th Assembly.
“We, the Imo Concerned Citizens therefore wish to call on all patriots, particularly members of the 9th Assemby, irrespective of party affiliation to give full support to the emergence of Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba as the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives”.
Responding, the House of Representatives member-elect, representing Okigwe South thanked the group for identifying with his political aspirations and the need for equity and fair play in the scheme of things and also to provide purpose-driven and people-centered leadership to the Assembly.
He reassured them of his commitment to always work to promote the best interest of the Nigerian people in General and Imo state People in particular irrespective of tribe, religion or party of affiliation and called on them to also support the President and the entire democratic process.
He encouraged them to continue praying for the nation, particularly, himself, adding that may the will of the Almighty God prevail.
Also speaking, Former Imo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Sir Frank Ibezim who was present at the visit thanked the Imo Concerned Citizens Team for their support for Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and his political aspirations.
