Singer Tiwa Savage, Rapper MI Abaga, actress Rita Dominic and other celebrities have also spoken up in reaction to the rape allegation leveled against singer D’banj.
Recall that a Nigerian lady, Seyitan Babatayo who accused singer, Dapo Oyebanjo aka D’banj, of raping her at Glee hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, in 2018, was arrested and allegedly forced to delete her statement by the singer’s team.
The ordeals of of Seyitan drew a lot of attention from Nigerians on social media who slammed D’banj for allegedly oppressing his accuser without allowing justice to be served properly.
While Nigerians were calling out D’banj, they also called on Nigerian celebrities to speak up against the injustice rape victims go through when they find the courage to speak up.
Taking to Twitter, Tiwa Savage expressed how heartbreaking the situation is. However, she also pledge support to victims of sexual abuse.
Actress Rita Dominic on her part was more decisive as she condemned the use of police officers in harassing and intimidating victims. She also demand the probing of all those involved in the detaining Seyitan.
MI Abaga condemned the system that encourages women to keep quiet when they are oppressed and praised those who have been helpful in helping Seyitan get justice.
