Nigerians could not hold back their disappointment and fury after President Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu tackled Nigerian media for paying massive attention to Coronavirus.
Shehu wondered why the media have not given the same attention to reports of ”822 Nigerians who die daily due to Malaria.”
”This morning’s newspapers, all of them have Coronavirus as the lead, cover story.
When will they bring the spotlight to bear on 822 who are killed by malaria everyday in Nigeria?” he wrote
Following his comment, Nigerians descended on him and the Buhari-led government. Many pointed out that it is a shame that over 800 citizens are dying of malaria on a daily basis, and wondered what they are doing about the situation since they already have the data.
