33 people were reportedly killed in an attack carried out by suspected bandits in two villages in Batsari local Government area of Katsina state on Friday February 14.
The bandits who struck at the time of prayer around 6:30pm in Tsauwa and Dankar villages, burnt several houses, animals and properties in the attack.
The state police commissioner, Sanusi Buba who confirmed the incident said over 20 persons confirmed dead in Tsauwa village were mostly elderly men.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to The Nation, said 23 persons were killed in Tsauwa while about 10 persons were killed in neighboring Dankar village. It was learnt that Dankar village was turned to a ghost town as several villagers fled for safety in nearby towns to avoid further attacks.
