The current Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh, has been crowned Miss World 2019.

The 23-year-old beauty queen beat 113 other contestants to win the coveted crown in a pageant which took place in London today, December 14th.

Similarly, our own Miss Nigeria 2019, Nyekachi Douglas emerged Miss World Africa 2019 at the event.

Nyekachi Douglas was amazing at the event that she scaled through to be part of the Top 40. She also made it through and was part of the Top 12. She didn’t stop there, she made us proud and made it up to the Top 5, and the only African Beauty standing.

The five beauty queens at the top five were: Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh; Miss India, Suman Rao; Miss France, Ophely Mezino; Miss Nigeria, Nyekachi Douglas and Miss Brazil.

The winner, Toni-Ann Singh, who is studying Women’s Studies and Psychology at Florida State University, spoke with confidence when she was asked why she should win the crown.

“I represent something special, a generation of women that are pushing forward to change the world. I wouldn’t say I’m different from any other woman on this stage but I will say that my passion for women and pouring into them and making sure that they have the same opportunities that I’ve had is something that sets me apart,” she said.

Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Singh, dazzled the audience with her amazing voice when she sang Whitney Houston’s classic, I Have Nothing.

Asked about the most inspiring woman in her life, Singh said it is her mother.

“The most inspiring woman to me is my mother. If my mother and father are the roots and I am the tree, then really any work that I do and anything that I am able to change in the world is the fruits of their labor. I have watched her pour everything into me even at the sacrifice of her own wants and needs and that is why I am able to sit for you today,” she said

The beauty queen who eventually won the crown, took her final walk in a stunning silver dress after being crowned by Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce De Leon.

Second place in the competition went to France, while India took the third spot.

Toni-Ann will have the opportunity to travel the world, making a difference through a number of philanthropic projects.
