Rapper Juice Wrld has died at the age of 21 after suffering a seizure on Sunday morning at the airport.
The American rapper, who has worked with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott, is said to have suffered a seizure at Chicago’s Midway airport on Sunday morning shortly after arriving at the airport on a flight from California.
According to TMZ, police sources said the rapper had suffered the seizure while walking through the airport and was bleeding from the mouth when paramedics arrived.
Juice, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, was still conscious when he was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. The cause of death is not yet known.
Juice Wrld rose to prominence in 2018 with his hit song ‘Lucid Dreams’, which peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. His song, ‘All Girls Are The Same’, was remixed by Lil Uzi Vert and drew the attention of Interscope Records, who then signed him to a multi-million dollar contract.
The rapper also appeared on Travis Scott’s chart-topping album Astroworld, singing the hook on No Bystanders.
His debut album, Goodbye & Good Riddance, reached number four on the Billboard 200 chart but it was his second album, Death Race For Love, which earned him his first number one on the chart.
As well as Travis Scott, Juice Wrld had collaborated with a range of artists including Future and Ellie Goulding. Earlier this year, the rapper replaced Future as the guest act on Nicki Minaj’s European tour which spanned 19 dates.
Juice Wrld, who had just turned 21 last week, cited his musical inspirations as late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, U2, Queen and Migos to name a few.
Speaking to NME in March, Juice said: ‘The people I looked up to put their demons out there. ‘They provided a path for me to walk on.’
