The defective technology Gov Ihedioha hopes to control LGA workers in Imo with

Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo state has introduced the use of a ‘clock-in-clock-out’ system to checkmate local government workers in the state.

According to representatives of the government, the device “creates a physical, indisputable record of when an employee clocked-in and out of work on any particular day.

“It can be used to capture the true number of workers in the council and amount of time spent at work while sorting out ghost workers. This also will encourage productivity among the workers.”

However, the reports Expressiveinfo exclusively gathered show that the clocking-in system which has kicked off in Owerri Municipal, Njaba and few other Local Government Areas has a major defect.

Expressiveinfo learnt from workers who have used the system that the clock-in device has a major defect that will sabotage the goal of checkmating the workers.

The workers who spoke under anonymity stated that a worker can clock-in by thumbprinting with the thumbs of one hand, and thumb print for another worker with the thumbs of another hand without the device rejecting it.

This means that one worker can thumbprint for two persons by using different hands. To do this, the worker only needs to collect the ID card and number of other worker to clock-in for the person.
